Albion Online’s Dragonfire update launches on August 31, 2026. With Sandbox Interactive’s final Dev Talk published on August 28, the update’s biggest features are now clear: the Ancient Lands, the 20-player Dragon Sanctuary, Azaryon the Fire Dragon, open-world Dragon attacks, and an entirely new reward and item chain.
How the Ancient Lands work
Portals opened by the Ashborn lead to the Ancient Lands, a forgotten realm of floating islands. Portal sizes support different party sizes, including solo and small-group players.
- Yellow Zone portals lead to the non-lethal Orange Zone version.
- Red Zone and Outlands portals lead to lethal versions.
- Parties clear Keeper mobs, earn Keystones and activate teleport links between islands.
- Deeper objectives include Drakes, Dragon Blood, Waystone Fragments and more valuable chests.
Dragon Sanctuary: a new 20-player raid
The Dragon Sanctuary is Dragonfire’s pinnacle PvE content. Entry requires a rare, tradable Waystone from the Ancient Lands. The raid is entirely PvE and exclusive to one 20-player party.
Groups must first overcome Maeve, the Unfettered Oracle, before reaching the ultimate encounter.
Azaryon, the Fire Dragon
Azaryon is described as Albion’s greatest PvE challenge yet. New movement and combat systems let him react dynamically to group movement, positioning and threat, while the fight evolves through multiple phases.
Defeating Azaryon gives every party member a week-long Lingering Dragon Spirit that makes repeat clears significantly harder.
Open-world Dragon attacks
- Royal Continent: spontaneous attacks with little warning; contributing players can earn loot from the reward chest left behind.
- Outlands: announced hours ahead, giving guilds time to organize. Guilds compete for Season Points while individual players receive reward chests.
New items and rewards
Item icons come from pre-release test-server game data and may change before the live build.
Dragonslayer Armor
- Hood: throws a revealing flare that slows enemy cooldowns.
- Jacket: flies to a target location and creates a protective barrier.
- Shoes: choose between a major movement-speed boost and cooldown reduction.
Food and potions
- Drake Biscuits: made with Drake Eggs and grant a 25-hour combat and gathering Fame buff.
- Leyfin Omelette: increases healing output.
- Lifeward Potion: crafted from Dragon Blood and can briefly protect allies from death.
What this could mean for Albion’s economy
Fire Dragon Scales, Dragon Blood, Waystone components, Drake Eggs and the new crafted items are likely to see heavy price volatility during the first days of the update. AlbionTR will add the live recipes, market data and trade routes as soon as Dragonfire goes live.
